Welcome to Cuba’s Cookin’
MONDAY – SUNDAY : 8 AM – 10 PM
One of Aruba’s longest and most celebrated relationships outside of the Antilles is with the biggest Island in the Caribbean – Cuba.
Given the turn of the past century when jobs here on the small island were scarce and even before Lago Oil began refining there were few industries to offer jobs. Back then when Aruba’s population peaked at around 3,000 people there was no tourist industry and air travel had yet to be discovered.
News between inter islands was not by newspaper, radio or television; the latter of which were even yet to be invented. It was done by migratory workers returning either from Panama’s mosquito infested malaria & dengue canal, or back breaking sugar cane harvest in Cuba. The Aruban men & women chose Cuba.
Here the two cultures blended well with many returning home with the names De Cuba. You just have to look in the telephone book to see the historical impact.
So when it opened a little over 19 years ago the island’s only Cuban restaurant “Cuba’s Cookin’” opened it’s doors to great welcome creating itself until this day through it’s authentic live music, art, food and ambience.
If you are an American visitor, what a truly great passport to experience an authentic piece of Cuba without all of the legal immigration hassles right here on the “small island.”
